Waterparks and Family Entertainment Centers
One of the newest uses for the Monolithic dome is in the Waterpark and Family Entertainment
Center industry. Dome Technology has completed several park designs and is negotiating
several more.
Construction Cost of Dome Waterparks are Frequently Less Than Conventional Construction
Domes are often more economical when compared to large conventional free span structures.
High Energy Efficiency
The insulation is placed between the outer waterproof membrane and the reinforced
concrete shell. This allows the concrete to act as a "heat sink" enabling greater
temperature control, and fewer temperature fluctuations. The heating, ventilation,
and air conditioning units required are smaller because of the thermal properties
of the building.
Rapid Construction
The dome is constructed inside the enclosed airform®. This creates a controlled environment,
enabling construction to progress rapidly regardless of weather.
Better Space Utilization and more Flexibility
Bearing walls and columns are not required in domes. This benefit provides maximum
utilization of space.
Lower insurance Premiums
The thin shell concrete dome is fire resistant, and resistant to most natural disasters.
Subsequently, the insurance premiums for property coverage can be substantially
less that conventional buildings.
